Young Life Australia: Developing Leaders

THE NEED:

Kid issues include poverty, corruption, hunger, and lack of resources in natural disasters. Young people are caught in the middle of this crisis. They are looking for role models and seeking answers to their suffering and needs. Many turn to gangs or prostitution for survival.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Young people in Australia are feeling more hopeless about the future than ever before, worrying about the impact of climate change, cost of living, bullying, isolation and social media. In Australia, around 7% of people attend church. Investing in lifelong discipleship is now counter-cultural and more important than ever.

At the same time, there is a new welcomed openness for questions about God and spirituality. Since 2022, we have seen an incredible response to the presence and care offered from Young Life leaders. A GAP year is very common after graduation in Australia and is a key part of our strategy to develop healthy leaders serving within Young Life. We host a five day YL intensive training experience with focus on leadership development, spiritual growth and adventure, targeting this age group.

THE PLAN:

To provide three full scholarships for leaders (aged 18-25) to participate in a five day YL intensive training experience (including food, lodging and flight / transportation costs).

Expected Outcomes:

Three young leaders invested and believed in, equipped to lead and serve in the mission.

The impact through leaders on kids' lives and ministry around them.
