Student Leadership Project

Raising Young Leaders

THE NEED:

Kid issues include poverty, corruption, hunger, and lack of resources in natural disasters. Young people are caught in the middle of this crisis. They are looking for role models and seeking answers to their suffering and needs. Many turn to gangs or prostitution for survival.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Student Leadership Project (SLP) is designed for emerging leaders ages 17-19 who represent geographic, economic, cultural, and ethnic diversity. The program brings together a group of these 30 emerging leaders and 12 YL Staff for a 10 day experience. Students in SLP put their faith into action through service projects and cultural experiences. They also move out of their comfort zones and are challenged in their faith. They do life with other young believers and sharpen one another. Together staff and students look to Christ as an example of a servant leader and then step into service learning experiences. Our investment can provide one student the travel and enrollment fee to join this summer’s SLP program hosted in San Diego, CA or St. Paul, MN.

THE PLAN:

To send one emerging and diverse young leader to experience the Student Leadership Program this summer.

Expected Outcomes:

One young leader invested and believed in, equipped to learn and lead beyond what their own opportunities would allow for

Impactful leadership and influence through them that will multiply in others
