Young Life's Woodleaf Camp: Supporting Adventure!

THE NEED:

Kid issues include poverty, corruption, hunger, and lack of resources in natural disasters. Young people are caught in the middle of this crisis. They are looking for role models and seeking answers to their suffering and needs. Many turn to gangs or prostitution for survival.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Like many YL properties, Woodleaf in Northern California has a ropes course designed to encourage kids out of their "comfort zones", thereby setting up conversations to explore their openness to Christ. New helmets are needed and will provide safety and security while our friends "step out" and experience the Woodleaf ropes course.

For nearly 60 years Woodleaf has been the most diverse property in all of Young Life. On any given week campers will include inner-city, suburban, international, Capernaum, YoungLives, and YLOne kids, together, immersed in the hospitality and love of Jesus with their leaders, having “the best week of their life”. These helmets provide one aspect of YL’s excellence in camping.

THE PLAN:

To provide 10 new helmets for the ropes course to meet the needs for 2,500 campers and leaders this summer.

Expected Outcomes:

New helmets will improve safety on the course and show kids how much we care about their well-being as they have personal encounters with Jesus.

Teens will go home having experienced "the best week of their lives" and knowing who Jesus is.
